For over 30 years the Cove Workshop has designed and handcrafted unique furniture in solid hardwoods for private commercial and ceremonial commissions.
Set on the headland of Islandmagee (on the Antrim coast) on the edge of the North Channel, looking across towards Portpatrick and the Mull of Galloway on the Scottish coast.
Originally founded by John Mathews in the late 1970s, the business was taken over by the present owners, Stewart Irvine and Alan Marks in 2002. Stewart is a former employee of the Cove Workshop and highly regarded inn the trade for his vast experience and knowledge of cabinet making. Alan Marks served his apprenticeship in cabinet-making, partly with the Cove Workshop and partly with another of Northern Ireland's long established and most highly regarded firms of cabinet-makers.
The present partnership of Stewart Irvine and Alan marks is committed to maintain and develop the distinctive tradition of the Cove Workshop for quality design and craftsmanship to produce the best in modern bespoke furniture.
During 2006 the Cove Workshop was commissioned to produce a selection of bespoke hardwood furniture for one of Northern Ireland's leading five-star hotels.
